In collaboration with the City of London, Nonclassical presents 66 Days – a digital multimedia project marking 400 years since the Mayflower sailed to America. Each of our Associate Composers are working with a collaborator to present audio-visual works exploring the themes of journeys, migration and cultural identities.
Nonclassical Associate Composer Lola de la Mata and her chosen collaborator Britta Thie show us a glimpse of their creative process.
Lola and Britta’s multimedia work is centred around the concept of migration and travelling through technology – “Teleportation Already Exists - just not the way we thought it would”. They are exploring the idea of ‘ironed time’ by researching the façade of screens and exploring ways to disrupt the flatness we all interact with.

Lola and Britta have shared some of their initial influences and inspirations that have resulted from their discussions, research and collaborative practice in this virtual scrapbook. These quotes, imagery and thinking points will feed in to their resulting video work.
