about the artists

Jasmine Morris

Jasmine Morris is a composer and musician currently based in London, studying at the Royal College of Music under the tutelage of Kenneth Hesketh and Catherine Kontz. She has been awarded multiple residencies and workshops (LSO Soundhub, Jack Studio, Britten-Pears Young Artist, Dartington Music Festival, Luxembourg Composition Fellow) and prizes (BBC Young Composer). Her work has been premiered at the Barbican, Aldeburgh Music Festival and King's Place. Further commissions have come from the Riot Ensemble, Solem Quartet, CoMA and the Viktoria Mullova Ensemble. In 2020, Jasmine collaborated with musician Per Runberg on the album Astrophilia, released by the label Nonclassical. She performs frequently as an electronic artist and has played various live sets in venues around the UK (The Rose Hill, Hundred Years Gallery, All is Joy, The Glove That Fits, State 51 conspiracy, The Village Underground.) This Autumn, she will begin a D.M.A at Cornell University.

Klavikon

Klavikon reimagines ‘electronic’ music without the use of conventional processes - no loops, no laptops, no sequencers. Instead, pianist Leon Michener employs a unique system of amplified prepared piano. Augmenting the 88 keys with his own inventions and found objects - a custom made pick up, a robot dog- he delivers cascading batteries of percussion, sub-basses and abstract soundscapes. This amalgam of virtuosic technique and real-time analogue processing is at once connected with Classical traditions of Stockhausen and Cage and the experimental dancefloor idiom of Amon Tobin and Bochum Welt. The result is a fertile sonic territory, sincere in it’s eccentricity, restlessly inventive, that resists easy categorisation.

NikNak

NikNak, an artist well-known for her creative and boundary-breaking work, has gained worldwide recognition with her unusual albums, remixes, and engaging performances. In 2020, she made history as the first Black Turntablist to receive the prestigious Oram Award. Not limited to any one genre or role, NikNak excels in composing, sound design, DJing, and electronic arts. With multiple releases, collaborations, and live shows, NikNak stands out in the music industry for her unique style. Featured in various publications as a rising star, NikNak continues to advance the boundaries of sound innovation with her complex turntablism and spatial music production.
