The wait is over! Langham Research Centre’s highly anticipated new experimental electronic album Tape Works Vol. 1 is now available to purchase. Available on CD, vinyl and cassette. Also available to download.
Tape Works Vol. 1 takes you on a journey to discover how recent text-based works and live electronics can be interspersed with earlier tape pieces and is performed using live tape manipulation. The album is made up of two long-form works: Muffled Ciphersand The Dark Tower, inspired by JG Ballard’s most experimental novel 'The Atrocity Exhibition' and the life and work of the scientific genius Nikola Tesla.
“A kind of Radiophonic Workshop Rebel Alliance...The whole effect is genuinely psychedelic, like The Focus Group 'remixing' Berberian Sound Studio." (The Quietus)
Langham Research Centre is a collection of BBC Radio 3 producers who came together around a shared passion for rare and obsolete analogue technology and the creative possibilities these machines offer. They were described as "richly imaginative" by Alan Titchmarsh in The Radio Times.
