nonclassical return to The Victoria, Dalston with a year-long bimonthly programme of experimental manifestos, flute workouts, return visits from nonclassical favourites, and the best new artists.
The year kicks off on 14 November with an evening of new and improvised works for viola from Benedict Taylor and Stephen Upshaw (pictured). Benedict Taylor will be presenting his ongoing viola concept work, Guerrillas - as much a composition as a manifesto for the viola, which has to date encompassed scores, artwork, recordings and videos. Stephen Upshaw will be performing solo viola works from Aaron Holloway-Nahum, Edmund Finnis and Nico Muhly, among others.
We've also got quizzical gestural music from The House of Bedlam, off-the-wall flute technique from Kathryn Williams, and experimental pianism from Zubin Kanga.
