Made up of two studio sessions and one live recording, Tom inhabits a unique musical space, creating cerebral yet groove driven sonic art that’s almost danceable. This is partly informed by his background as a PhD student at Goldsmiths, where he re-imagined and built the Mini Oramics machine – a 'drawn sound' instrument first conceived by electronic music pioneer Daphne Oram, and finally realised by Tom in 2016. He also draws influences from dance music, including ritual trance, Ghanaian drum choir music and the cellular rhythms of Steve Reich.

To celebrate the release of PINK NOTHING, Tom Richards has curated an evening of music at The Victoria, Dalston on Tuesday 31 July. As well as live music from the LP, you’ll also see the Mini Oramics machine in action as Sarah Angliss performs a new work with guest singer Sarah Gabriel. Also appearing is sound and video artist Steph Horak, who performs improvised vocal-driven drone poetry – somewhere between experimental electronica, traditional songwriting and conceptual art –  and DJ sets from Graham Dunning.
