Reporting to the Board of Trustees, Miranda Johnson will be in charge of devising and delivering an innovative programme of work across our events, label and artist development programmes. She will guide Nonclassical through our 20th anniversary, leading on projects including planned events at London’s Southbank Centre and more.

Miranda joins Nonclassical as Executive Director (Maternity Cover) following the completion of her Clore Fellowship and after eight years with Britten Pears Arts (most recently as Director of Business and Strategic Planning; previously as Director of Development). Miranda brings extensive experience both in building and leading teams, and in generating significant income across both charitable and commercial contexts. A professionally-trained musician, Miranda is passionate about supporting great art and artists.

On her appointment, Miranda said:

“I am excited to have the opportunity to support the important work Nonclassical are doing, and the exceptional artists at its core. I look forward to championing those pushing creative boundaries, while encouraging ever-growing audiences to experience innovative new music.”

William Norris, Chair of Nonclassical said:

“We're fortunate indeed to have found someone of Miranda's calibre to lead the organisation while Natalia is on maternity leave, and I look forward to working with her, building upon Natalia's achievement. We're looking forward to welcoming her to the team shortly for what will be an important year, as we celebrate 20 years of Nonclassical during 2024.”

Natalia Franklin Pierce, outgoing Executive Director remarked:

“After four and a half years running Nonclassical, I am delighted to hand the baton over to Miranda while I step away for a year’s maternity leave. Her experience at Britten Pears Arts, in fundraising, music and as a Clore Fellow give me confidence that the organisation will be in capable hands over this period as I take on other responsibilities. I wish the team, board and artists well in this period of change as we celebrate reaching a momentous 20 in 2024 and very much look forward to seeing the programme from a different perspective over the 12 months.”

Welcome to the team, Miranda!
