Featuring
Performing will be the first group to perform and record for Nonclassical in 2004, ‘Feisty boundary pushers’ (Metro) The Elysian Quartet; alongside ClapTON ensemble and new ensemble Abstruckt plus Nonclassical DJs.
Elysian Quartet
One of the UK’s foremost quartets for contemporary music, the Elysian Quartet has worked closely with composers such as Meredith Monk and Graham Fitkin, and in 2012 performed Stockhausen’s notorious Helicopter Quartet as part of the first ever complete staging of his Mittwoch Aus Licht. The group was at the heart of Nonclassical’s beginnings ten years ago, performing at the first events and recording Gabriel Prokofiev’s first two quartets for release on the Nonclassical label.
ClapTON Ensemble
clapTON ensemble is committed to performing challenging repertoire by some of the most unique compositional voices of today. Founded by Elo Masing and Camilo Mendez, both living in Clapton (East London), it aims to showcase exciting new music that for some reason has rarely or never been performed in the UK.
Abstruckt
'Abstruckt’ is a newly formed collective of percussionists, passionate about the performance of contemporary and experimental music. The nature of their performances often strongly incorporate theatrical and choreographic artistry, adding many new dimensions to the way an audience is able to process the works presented to them.
Members of the group have performed together all across the UK and Europe to very high acclaim, and are looking forward to continually challenging themselves and audiences with their unique approach to musical interpretation.
