As part of our release of Fieldwave, we invited composer Kate Carr to guide us in two workshops introducing techniques for recording and composing with everyday sounds around us.

Participants had the opportunity to use specialist microphones, including contact mics, hydrophones and coil pick ups to record vibrations, electricity and underwater sounds around Bethnal Green. We also spent time discussing different ways of interpreting and unlocking layers of sound around us. Here is a selection of some of the recordings made during the workshops by participants, including sounds from electromagnetic pulses and a soundscape from inside a toilet.
