Meet the artists behind our upcoming event on Tuesday 22 June, where Associate Composer Yfat Soul Zisso curates a multi-directional performance exploring themes of solitude and connectedness. Accompanied by layered electronics, Zisso herself performs alongside distinct voices within contemporary music – Loré Lixenberg, Rosie Middleton, and Fleur de Bray.

Yfat Soul Zisso

Based in Birmingham, composer and soprano Yfat Soul Zisso has had her work performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and the Fidelio Trio. Ranging from whimsical works for toy piano to serene imaginings for strings, Soul’s music combines different microtonal sound worlds and textures with extended techniques to create original soundscapes. Soul is currently studying for a PhD that focuses on creating a quarter-tone compositional language suitable for western singers to learn.

Soul will perform alongside Loré, Rosie and Fleur in the first performance of a new spacial work for voices and electronics that she has written specially for this event.
